Kronos & Kairos - Seizing the Moment 06/28/2010
![]() - Article By Rachel Lim, Researcher of Arrows With Soul We all know what time is. We live by it, chase after it, lament that it passes so quickly, and we wish we had more of it. We measure time by seconds, hours, days, months, years, and we schedule our lives by this idea of time, racing around the clock to make sure we maximize it. This is time understood as Kronos, for it is sequential or linear, that is, it follows in order. Yesterday comes before tomorrow. 5pm comes before 5.15pm. We are taught to recognize this apparently profound truth in schools, and it becomes so vital to our lives that we do not realize that we have made ourselves slaves by limiting ourselves to the kronos time.
